Hurricane Harvey: Ways To Help The Arc Of Texas

Many of you have called and asked if we were doing anything to assist the victims of Hurricane Harvey. We have been in touch with our fellow Arc Chapters in Texas. The Arc of Greater Beaumont has been severely affected by Hurricane Harvey. Many folks in their Adult Day Training Programs (ADT) have been evacuated from their homes. Currently 30 of them are housed at the ADT and others and their families are in other shelters. Although they are in need of personal hygiene items immediately, there is a concern that due to the surrounding conditions, those items wouldn't be able to get to them at the moment. Items that would be most beneficial would be gift cards to places such as: Walmart, Target, Family Dollar, Dollar Tree, etc. These cards can then be used to purchase whatever items are needed.

Another big need will be clean-up and repair materials, such as: gloves, paper towels, garbage bags, brooms, rakes, wood, etc. These items will be needed if and when folks are able to get back into their homes.

Victory Living Programs is collecting the items mentioned above and will send them to The Arc of Greater Beaumont. Individuals can also go to https://www.thearcoftexas.org/harvey/ to learn of other needs and ways to help.
